Chronicles
[**Warning this is long! i just wrote and wrote and wrote and wrote; if you get something from this… awesome. i just needed to write things out and this is what came of it**]
today i was in the shower praying in tongues (usual occurrence in my daily routine) and as i was there i got this plan for the day, the plan was to tackle 2 Chronicles in the day. i dont know about the random 2 people who actually read this… but i read slow and normally the books of history as kind of bland and uneventful. God gave me a hunger and thirst for His word. He has def answered prayer and set my heart on fire for His word. today i finished the goal or task for the day of reading through 2Chronicles.
As i look back on all of the Kings of Judah i see great men of faith and men of “NOOOO”, i say men of NOOOO bcuz every time i read “and …. did evil in the sight of the Lord” im like… NOOOO. all of these men though not all followed the Lord gave me encouragement. To see how God interacts with His people, the people in which He has enthroned and put in the place of authority. All in all God held to His promises made through David. Many of Davids line benefited greatly bcuz David was a man after Gods own heart and wanted to follow God whole heartedly, when he did something against the Lord he was quick to repent and come to God with everything and in humility. Davis was a Child of God. in every sense of the word child.
from David we get Solomon who simply asked God who presented him with the option of having whatever he wanted, responded with simply “wisdom”. He did as he said he would and built a home for the Lord. He wasnt perfect and towards the end of his life came back to the Lord. then later we come across Hezekiah who i think was a freakin G, he wanted nothing but to live for God, he wanted to correct the things of the past. He didnt want to live like his father and his grandfather he wanted to establish a newness of relationship with God, a Holy nation. his heart yearned to return Judah to there God. also after him we get Josaih… also a G… i am just in awe of a man who ruled at such a young age and did so much. he like hezekiah wanted nothing short of living for God fully. He had such a heart for God and was so open to hearing God and doing exactly what the Lord wanted him to do.
these men of Faith are incredible.
all throughout this as i said earlier we see Gods faithfulness and His righteous anger. It is incredible to see such great kings who were only to be followed up by there son’s who totally missed out on God. how do some not get so influenced by there fathers? how are we so involved in relationship with our fathers and want to blaze our own path? that is essentially the same thing. i thought about this after i had read about Manasseh. His father was Hezekiah(the freakin G) and yet he followed a path away from his father and lead to being captive. at the end of it all he heard the Lords words and humbled himself before God. God took him back and restored him and took him home. this is where we are exactly each day. each day we get up and want to do something new and exciting, we want a new experience to chalk up, we want something someone hasnt already had. God gives us that each day, it is a matter of whether or not we are obedient to Him. God will provide the experiences that you couldnt have otherwise. the things we want to experience in this world are nothing new. Solomon rightly states that “there is nothing new under the sun”, he says this in a time when he had just came out of a part of his life where he left the Lord and gave into selfish pleasure. if we are in the Lord and we seek only to live a life “right in the sight of the Lord” there will be that experience, there will be that sense of adventure that no one else can experience, people can experience things similar but not fully have that encounter you have with God that you will. my last thing is this, make a choice daily to be open to what the Lord has for you specifically that day. we may fall short as many of the Kings in Chronicles but we have a God who is righteous and Just who gives grace and mercy to get through the tasks at hand.
If you read all of this i am proud of you… as Elkan would say “GJ”
